【CCTV’s Misleading Report: TWRF Demands Correction and Public Apology】
TWRF Statement
Established in 2016, the AMA Museum of Peace and Women's Rights is Taiwan’s first institution dedicated to the “comfort women” movement and to promoting women’s rights, peace, and security. China Central Television (CCTV) requested an interview for a program marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and explicitly assured us that the content would not be used to attack Taiwan or Japan. In line with our educational mission, the Taipei Women's Rescue Foundation (TWRF) agreed to the interview. However, in the segment aired on December 5, 2025, CCTV deliberately distorted hours of footage into a brief clip that weaponized the history of wartime sexual slavery to launch political attacks against the Taiwanese and Japanese governments. This manipulation seriously misled the international community and damaged our reputation.
TWRF issues the following statement:
Condemnation of Unethical Journalism: CCTV misrepresented the purpose of the interview. We demand a correction and apology; otherwise, TWRF will reject all future interview requests from CCTV.
Peace Means Anti-Aggression: TWRF opposes acts of aggression by any nation, including China’s military coercion and aggressive tactics against Taiwan. Furthermore, we support national defense and civil defense preparations to safeguard Taiwan's security.
Honoring the AMAs’ Legacy: The survivors spoke out for truth, not hatred. TWRF remains committed to gender justice and human rights education and will not allow historical trauma to be weaponized for political propaganda.
